Dear AES Families,
Please see message below from DCSD to parents/guardians.
To provide a safe viewing of the Great American Eclipse on April 8, the DeKalb County School District (DCSD) has decided to make that day an independent learning day for students and school-based employees. The safety and well-being of our students remain a top priority for DCSD, and while experiencing a solar eclipse is exciting and educational, looking directly at an eclipse can damage a student’s eyes. The independent learning day would also ensure students and staff are not on the roads and highways during the time of the eclipse, which is expected to begin at 1:45 p.m. and end at 4:21 p.m., during dismissal time for DCSD schools. We encourage families who plan to experience the eclipse to be safe and protect their eyes by wearing eclipse-viewing glasses. Families can visit DCSD’s website for more safety tips.
