In order to show community support, the Avondale Elementary School Education Foundation must raise $9,000 in matching funds. Funding partner General Motors pays for the rest, and the school will receive a playground valued at approximately $105,000!

The existing playground equipment at AES is more 20 years old and leaves much to be desired. The new playground will be located closer to the school, next to the gym, making it much more accessible. With the help of KaBoom, AES students and teachers will design the new playground, keeping in mind the school's move toward STEM certification. A STEM playground will serve as another classroom, one where students can explore STEM concepts. What better engineering lesson than asking students to design their own playground?
